Slot Machine positioning

Volumes have been stated on this matter, and the bickering and disagreement about where the "hot" slot games are positioned in the casino are still bubbling – over sixty yrs after the slot machines were first installed in gambling dens.

The standard rule is that the better slot games were located just inside the main door of the casino; so that people walking by would see real jackpot winners and be drawn to come unto the gaming floor and play. Our estimation is that this is no longer true.

The majority of the big name casinos these days are behemothic complexes and now you can’t see inside from the sidewalk, so there’s no longer a reason to put the ‘loose’ slots near to any doors.

Another classic rule is that loose slots are placed on the major aisles inside the casinos, again so that more persons could see winning jackpots and be energized to play. Importantly though, we find that this also is not a universal rule any more.

What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else. If they played slot machine games at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the very last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!

These days, casinos are constantly changing their philosophy about where to place the loose slots.
